Paper: Conn. lawmaker changes marriage debate

Bay Windows credits openly lesbian Rep. Beth Bye's testimony for helping to personalize the marriage debate in the Connecticut state legislature this week. "She really put herself out there and spoke from the heart, and that is exactly what moved legislators. It moved them when they heard it from constituents, but it moves them in a whole different way when they hear it from a colleague, and especially a colleague they like and respect as much as Beth," said Anne Stanback, executive director of Love Makes a Family.

Bye, a Victory-endorsed candidate, was elected in 2006.
