U.S. Gay-Rights Groups Heartened by Political Gains

Although gay marriage remains a highly debated issue, LGBT leaders believe that significant strides have been made in the fight for LGBT equality.  The presence of openly LGBT elected officials and candidates, intensifying demands for the repeal of the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, and the public backlash against homophobic comments all contribute to the progress towards LGBT equality.
