Victory announces 12 new endorsements; 6 running in November

Washington, DC—The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund today announced it has endorsed a dozen new candidates for races in 2007 and 2008. So far in 2007 the Victory Fund has endorsed 67 candidates for political office across the United States, the group said.
The newly-endorsed candidates are:
2007 races:
- Joel Burns—City Council, Fort Worth, Texas
- Craig Covey —Mayor, Ferndale, MI
- Thomas Zerafa—Mayor, Oak City, Michigan
- Tim Purington—City Council, Holyoke, MA
- Lance Ringel—Town Board, Rhinebeck, NY
- Grace Ross —City Councilor, Worchester, MA
2008 races:
- Kevin
Beckner—Hillsborough County Commission, Hillsborough, Florida
- Kate Brown—Secretary of State, Oregon
- Al McAffrey—State Representative, Oklahoma
- Mike Nelson—State Senate, North Carolina
- Victoria Sigler—Circuit Court Judge, Florida
- Lupe Valdez —Dallas County Sheriff, Dallas, Texas
The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to increasing the number of openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elected officials at all levels of government. The nation’s largest LGBT political action committee, the Victory Fund has helped grow the number of out officials from 49 to more than 380 since its founding in 1991.
